Year 6 have netball every week with a coach called Mrs. Bentley. In week 1 we learned about the bounce pass, the chest pass, the shoulder pass and the over-head pass.

Week two saw us learning some different skills like how to defend and practiced some shooting. We also played some games that helped us to learn how to attack and defend with other people.

Year 6 pupils Caitlin, Jess and Gracie took part in the Humberside Police Lifestyle Challenge with some year 7 ex-Wilberfoss girls; Meghan and Emily.

The girls got together to create a bee garden at the local Sports and Social Club. It can also be used as a sitting area as the garden has a bench in it. They worked really hard and it was a great success.

The reason the girls decided to make a bee garden was because they heard that bees were dying out. So they decided to take drastic action to the problem. Within just twenty minutes of planting the flowers, the first bee landed. YAY!

The girls got a letter saying that they had got into the finals of the Lifestyle Challenge project. They were so excited and couldn’t wait to find out what they had won. They went on Tuesday 9th November to the Hull City Hall.  They were very excited.

The girls won a day trip to Alton Towers theme park and are off on the 22nd of May thay are so happy and grateful for there prize as they put A LOT of hard work into it! :)

I talked to some of the pupils that paticipate in this event (names above) ;

Caitlin says:

“It makes me feel really relaxed and I feel streched in a lovely way”

Jess says:

“I love yoga. It makes you feel really relaxed and takes away any stress. The music we do it to definatly helps you get into the mood of it. :) “

I say:

“It really relaxes your body and you feel really good afterwards and somtimes in the middle you feel dizzy and calm.”

Mr Bruton here – I just wanted to introduce you to three very, very clever children – Katy, Lewis and Ben. They’re only in Year 3 and thus become our youngest bloggers yet.

Year 3 & 4 recently finished a topic on The Vikings and I asked these three stars who had finished their ICT work to write a report on what they’d done. Their work is below, and I hope you’ll agree, it’s very, very good indeed.

Katy:

Year 3 were learning about Vikings. We learnt about how they invaded Lindisfarne and when they invaded England. We even painted pictures of Vikings!

In ICT we wrote about them and we  found pictures of them. Sometimes we went on a website about Vikings and we found  lots of infomation there.

In Literacy we wrote about what we had learnt on the website. In Music we learnt a song called Viking Rock. It was really hard to fit the words in, but we managed to get them in.

Also in art we made some Viking helmets. To make them first we covered some balloons in newspaper, then when we had stuck three layers on we covered it in scrap paper. After that we painted them grey and last of all we decorated them with gold and silver paint. Some people needed to put another layer on. In our spare time we read a story about Vikings and we still havent got to the end of it.

Lewis:

We were learning about the Vikings. We learnt how they invaded England.
We sung a song about them. It was called Viking Rock. We made helmets and on the 9th of November we decorted them.

Ben:

Fist we drew a picture of a Viking warrior or man. Then we painted him painted him. Next we cut it out.

After that we leant a song called Viking Rock. Then we performed it in front of our parents and the whole school. Then we got some balloons and covered them in newspaper 4 times and painted them grey than we did some patterns in gold and silver to make our helmets.

greek-flag

During the 3rd of November year 5/6 had a Greek Day to launch the Topic Of Greece we’ll be doing this half term. We had a choice to come in Greek clothing and we had to bring and paint a terracotta plant pot.

After registration we planned out our design  for the black paint that went on our  pot. Before we put on the paint  we drew on the pot with pencil so we could go over it with black paint.

When we had all finished our pots,Mrs Hatter, put on horrible histories for us which was about Greeks.

Then Jack , Curtis , Sam and Jack  helped set out the food banquet. Mrs Hatter gave out some sheets for us to fill in while we were tasting the food.We all tried a variety of different Greek foods and filled in on our sheet the taste, appearance, texture, name of the food and the rating out of ten. Whilst we were eating we had some Greek music on.

Here are some of the foods we tried:

pita-bread JB&CW  hummus JB&CW

Pitta bread & Houmous

Greek-Yogurt JB&CW  olive-mista

Greek Yogurt and Olives.

Baklava-1  GreekDelightRedyellow400g

Baklava and Greek Delight.

lemonade  exps40736_CFT1437882D14C

For the drinks we had Curtis’ homemade lemonade which wasn’t fizzy!
