Doncaster South City Learning Centre Friday 26th March 6.00 – 9.30pm
Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and technology. Anyone can share great ideas they’ve trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Would be good to see and hear both Primary and Secondary Teachers.
When you come along, you can chat, meet new people, or give a seven minute talk, a two minute nano presentation or lead a conversation.

Using ICT to individualise learning for students with learning difficulties
From today and  for the next two weeks, we have Award Winning KC Kelly-Markwick, a special needs practitioner in the area of information technology at Oakwood Court College, sharing her practice and reflections around such areas as developing communication with students on the Autistic spectrum by using accessories and avatars, webcams and range of hand-held digital technology.
She begins the conversations today with this:
“One of the greatest challenges to education is making it accessible and applicable to all. Used imaginatively technology can liberate a learner’s experience, particularly for those needing additional help. This does not always mean employing specialist equipment but utilising standard hardware and software creatively in order to make learning inclusive and accessible.”
If you’d like to hear more or ask KC questions, then please logon to the Vital Community HERE

Have a look at this Swedish film, called The Hero. It’s a fantastic example of how people are constantly pushing the boundaries of what can be done with films.

LTS in conjunction with 4ip worked with SixToStart to create and pilot a new app for developing Literacy Skills. TapTale lets you read and write tales on your iPhone and iPod Touch, where you tap, tilt, turn, shake and swipe to discover what happens next! At the moment only registered LTS users in the pilot can create tales but anyone can download and read them.
Each chapter can end with a different activity such as:
Chapter : âI heard a knock at the doorâ
Expected Action â Double tap
It looks like a really interesting app and a great way to develop Literacy and new technologies.
