Online workshop for schools – Intermediate Kodu -3rd November

Location: Online via Adobe Connect

Start time: 16:00

The intermediate session will assume some familiarity with kodu. It will be advantages to have downloaded the system from:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10056 we will look at:

  • Multi-player games
  • Using Xbox controllers
  • The community, saving and sharing
  • Object tweaking
  • Configuration

Suitable for key 2 + the workshop is cross curricular for teachers or support staff working with the children.

After the workshop delegates will have the opportunity to stay on-line for a Q&A /help session if required.

Starting at 4:00 the session will last approximately 45 minutes and be conducted through Adobe Connect. All you will need is access to a PC and a set of headphones. If you’re not sure what to do we can happily run a quick test session with you first.

Free Microsoft Resources – Microsoft Tools – online workshop 11th November

This session will look at the three FREE resources Flashcards , Mouse Mischief and Windows photo gallery.

Thanks to Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Network, these resources are free to teachers to use in their classrooms.

To download the software all teachers need to do is register on the PIL website at http://www.pil-network.com

Starting at 16:00, the session will last approximately 45 minutes and be conducted through Adobe Connect. All you will need is access to a PC and a set of headphones. If you aren’t sure what to do just let us know and one of the team will happily contact you to run a quick test session with you first.

Getting Started with Microsoft Songsmith – Online workshop 3rd October

Spark your students’ creativity, engage their interest, and improve learning outcomes by creating and sharing music in the classroom with Songsmith. Songsmith automatically generates musical accompaniment for anyone’s voice and can help you teach music, math, and many other subjects in innovative new ways. Sometimes helping kids “find their spark” is the hardest part of stimulating learning; Songsmith is a great way to encourage creativity.

The learning suite includes FREE tools such as OneNote, Songsmith, DeepZoome, PhotoSynth, Mouse Mischief, Worldwide Telescope, Skydrive and Kodu to name but a few.

FREE to YHGfL Members: Beginners Guide to Game Making at KS2

The role of programming in ICT has been a key focus over the past few weeks with the Education Secretary Michael Gove firmly backing ‘coding’ in the ICT curriculum. This online session will introduce delegates to a number of freely available software programmes that can be used to create simple games. Delegates will learn the basics of Scratch and Microsoft Kodu and look at how they can be used within the curriculum.
