A visit from the Blah Blah Blah theatre company.

Friday, April 1st, 2011

The children in Rowan and Beech class were very lucky to have a visit from the Blah Blah Blah threatre company. The children listened and took part in the story ‘when the wind changed’. The story was about peoples faces staying stuck when the wind changed. The children had to show different facial expressions for different feelings.

All the children had a lovely morning!

An afternoon in the sun!!

Friday, March 25th, 2011

On Wednesday the children of Rowan class enjoyed an afternoon out in the sun. The children went to forest school and had an exciting time.

Following on from the story of the three little pigs, the children continued the role play outside. Miss Griffiths turned into the big bad wolf and some of the children were the pigs. They found different places in the forest to make a house of straw, a house of twigs and a house of bricks. Some children decided to change the story and they were helping the big bad wolf by creating food with super powers to give the wolf more energy to blow the houses down.

The children of Rowan class were very creative with their thinking.

Some children decided to do some weaving outside on a large scale using different coloured ribbons and others enjoyed climbing trees and exploring the garden.

All Rowan class enjoyed their afternoon and are hoping the sun decides to stay for a while!!!

This week in Rowan class… Live from the carpet!!

Friday, March 11th, 2011

This week in Rowan class the children have been making kites and using them outside in the windy weather.
Amy- “the kite flew very well”

Some of the children have been making areoplanes out of paper.

All of the children have taken part in a shape hunt in the forest garden. The children were very excited and tried hard to find different shapes around the forest garden. The children have also made some shape mobiles to hang up in the classroom.

In PE the children have been practising different ways to jump and land.

The children in Rowan class have had a fun filled week.

Thank you for reading what we have been up to

And so we begin………

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Today has been a very special day in Key Stage 1 as the children at Ashbrow Infant and Nursery School have started on their blogging journey.

The children were asked to share with you something they have learnt recently or something that they like doing in school.

(It is all THEIR OWN WORK as we feel it is very important that our children have a voice and a place to share what is important to them.) They were  eager to have their posts published and to tell others they were famous.

We would love you to comment on any of the children’s work and their blog posts, especially at this very early stage. Also if you would like to ask the children any questions or make suggestions as to the type of work you would like to see on this blog, please do.

We look forward to hearing from you

Chinese Dragon!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

We have been very busy in Early Years learning all about Chinese New Year.  We made latterns, had a go at some chinese number writing.  We helped Mrs Peace to make a chinese dragon head by carefully sticking scales onto a large box.  Mrs Peace found us some very special fabric so we could take part in our very own chinese dragon dance.  We used the percussion instruments to make our own music for us to dance too.  During our baking session we made some very tasty spring rolls.  We all had a FANTASTIC time!!!

More amazing number work!
