We learnt about wuzu were muslims wash before praying we learnt about prayer mats and how they pray. And we learnt about my religion and my religion is a jehovah’s wittnesses. The place that I pray in is called a kingdom hall. Some things in my religion are the same as christians. The things that are the same are that in my religion we have a baptism pool and get baptized  some times in a church they have a baptism pool and get baptized.

Special buildings, special people

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

In KS1 we have looked carefully at special buildings in our local area and in particular the special religious buildings.
We went on a visit to the local church and we are soon to go and visit a mosque.
In the afternoons we have a continuous curriculum with lots of different jobs that we can do on our own, as well as the focus skills activities we do with staff and students.
To help remind us of our jobs and what we need to do we have special instructions that are placed in each area.
They look like this….

This first week back has been exciting because we have been thinking carefully about religious buildings and some of the special things that happen inside them.

Our continuous curriculum jobs have included:

  1. Building a special building using the big bricks outside
  2. Re-enacting practices and celebrations that might take place insde a special building
  3. Using 2D shapes to create a mosque
  4. Drawing a picture of a building that is special to us and explaining why it is special
  5. Using the computers to experience virtual tours of religious buildings

Click on the slideshow below to see how busy we have been…

We also worked with Mrs Moville to re-enact some of the occasions that are celebrated in religious buildings.

We had lots of weddings and we even went to a funeral.

If you would like to go on a virtual tour of an AMAZING mosque in Abu Dhabi follow this link

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our work.
If you have visited any special buildings we would love you to tell us about them.
