At a recent event “Communicate with confidence: engaging young people online” an Arts Council sponsored survey of 2000 adults showed “…engaging with the arts through digital media is now a mainstream activity. Crucially, this engagement augments, rather than replaces, the live experience.”

The survey underlines a trend mainstreaming digital media in communicating arts and culture: and  some useful additional references were given by the English National Youth Arts Network to guide engagement with young people using social networks.
