Media iCT@C BETT2010_glossy srad SchoolsRadio.com is run as a charity and is largely operated on a volunteer basis. It is there to help and exists solely to encourage all school students throughout the United Kingdom to get involved in making radio. Radio broadcasts might be over the air with a licence from Ofcom, over the Internet, a podcast that can be downloaded or just relayed by wire in the building. Indeed, if you can find another way of doing it we’ll happily call it radio.

The website aims to provide a whole range of useful advice for teachers, supervisors and students. Equally important it provides a forum in which all those involved in schools radio can share the views and experiences. Teachers and other station managers are also encouraged to submit the best of their programming to SchoolsRadio.com so that it may be made available for listening by others.

FILMCLUB gives pupils and teachers the chance to explore the world of film through after school film clubs. With free weekly screenings, online reviewing, industry events and hands on support, FILMCLUB inspires, excites and opens up new avenues for learning.

SO WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT IT?

Although it’s fun just watching movies with your friends, that’s not all FILMCLUB offers. Immersing yourself in a vibrant mix of vintage hits, international classics, blockbusters, art movies and all points in between, seeing films made years ago and others fresh out this week, stories produced in every corner of the world… well, it’s a surefire way to find yourself dazzled, provoked, amused, shocked and uplifted. (And sometimes all at once.)

FC1

CAN I JOIN?

From the biggest inner-city secondary to the smallest rural primary school, all state-funded schools in England can become part of the FILMCLUB community for free. Teachers or 6th form students can join up online and we’ll do all we can to help you run a great film club. (But if you’re not a teacher at a state-funded school in England and you’re interested in what we do, don’t worry – we’ll see if we can help.)

WILL I LEARN ANYTHING?

We’ll be encouraging you to watch films from all over the world, made in every possible era, so you can explore countless different cultures, characters and new ways of telling stories. By discussing and writing about the films, you’ll sharpen your critical skills and impress your friends with your encyclopedic film knowledge.

IS IT REALLY FREE?

Yes – FILMCLUB is absolutely free if you’re a state funded school in England. We believe that all young people deserve access to as many films made as possible. Funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families is helping us to make that happen.

Media mo MakingOf is a behind-the-scenes Web destination, founded by Natalie Portman and Christine Aylward, that provides an intimate, fresh look into the process of creating entertainment by the insiders themselves. Our mission is to champion the art and craft of entertainment creation. We started MakingOf because we realized that so much of what goes into entertainment creation is unavailable to the people who love and consume it the most. We wanted to give fans a way to experience that creation and learn from the insiders and thus MakingOf was born. When you visit MakingOf you will experience behind-the-scenes content, exclusive access to industry insiders, and an interactive, entertainment-focused community forum.  It is your all-access pass to learn from and interact with actors, directors, producers, writers, and more.  Film school for everyone!
