Would you like a set of Flip video cameras for your school? If so, why not enter YHGfL’s Cyberbullying competition? All you have to do is create a digital resource on an anti-cyberbullying theme – this could be an animation, story, poster, poem, song, podcast, film or anything else you can think of. The closing date is 3rd April 2009, so there is still time to enter.

A new scheme of work for eSafety and online research skills has been produced by the London Boroughs of Islington, Barnet and Kensington & Chelsea in conjunction with Northampton and Hackney. The scheme of work covers online research skills from EYFS to Year 6, and references useful resources and websites. It is a very useful document to support planning. The scheme of work is currently in first draft, due to be updated in Summer. I think it’s very useful as it is!

    Blogging No Comments »

I have had problems recently with receiving a large number of spam comments on the blog. They haven’t appeared on the blog itself as all comments need to be approved by a moderator (I’m now very glad the blog was set up like this as the messages were peddling illegal drugs!).

The settings on the blog have now been changed so that users need to be registered and logged in to comment on posts. I hope this won’t put people off commenting – all you need to do is register with a user name and email address. You will be prompted to register the first time you click on ‘comment’. Please let me know if you have any problems.

I like this activity brought to us by the New York Zoos and Aquarium site. It is called ‘Build Your Wild Self’ .

It is a character creation tool that allows you to choose features and options in order to create strange hybrid creatures based on yourself (should you wish). Once you have created your ‘Wild Self’ the image can be saved (‘Save Picture As…’) and then used in any number of ways – such as a pupil avatar in Digitalbrain Primary for instance.

Just one reservation – I don’t like the way the text is a mixture of upper and lower case and this would need pointing out to kids, I think.

    Have a go! Here’s mine:
