Curriculum Support Pack on Ednet

I have been intending to finish off my curriculum support materials and put them on Ednet for months, and I have finally managed it! The Primary ICT Curriculum Support Pack is there for teachers who want to bridge the gap between the QCA scheme of work and the new National Curriculum, due to be implemented in 2011. The support pack provides a structure for including new technologies, and raising expectations in line with the Literacy Framework, which moves the goalposts in terms of ICT skills and applications used.

The pack includes progression from Foundation Stage to Year 6, planning tools and lesson exemplars. I will be putting assessment tools on next week. Instructions for use are included in the pack (finally! It was just a set of documents before as I hadn’t put on the all important explanation), but please contact me if you need any further explanation or support.

ICT Mark Success

Congratulations to all the staff and pupils at Kayes First and Nursery School, which has become the first primary school in Kirklees to be awarded the ICT Mark. The ICT Mark accreditation is awarded to schools which have achieved a good standard in the use of technology. Schools must demonstrate good practice across eight elements, including leadership and management, learning and teaching and assessment.

I am hoping this will start the ball rolling, as I know there are quite a few Kirklees primary schools which deserve to have ICT Mark! Becta have now launched the Next Generation Learning Charter, which means that schools can be recognised when they are part way to achieving the ICT Mark. Parents can also check on the website to see if their child’s school is committed to Next Generation Learning. Now there’s an incentive to sign up!
