What an exciting weekend Miss teacher has had! On Thursday I took the train to London to go to the Channel 4 Studios. I had been invited to join in a Question and Answer session following the program, ‘Kids Don’t Count.’ It was all about children learning maths at primary school and how some children find it really tricky. I love Maths, and I hope you do too. I am always trying to learn how to really make Maths make sense, and how to make it a fun thing to learn, so I was really interested in the program. I got to talk to all the people who had been in the program, and we all agreed that Maths is really important and that it should be taught in a fun and interesting way. Let me know what you think of your Maths lessons, and if you have any ideas to make it even better?
The next day Mr teacher and I went for a walk around London. It is the capital city of England and has some amazing modern buildings and also some stunning, beautiful historical buildings. Look at Mr Teachers fantastic photographs-

My favourite shot is the 10th one. Mr Teacher and I had a cup of tea in the Cafe at the top of the Tate Modern Art gallery. This was the view from where we were sat! It really did make me feel that it was ‘Good to be me!’
Now I’m looking forward to a really exciting week at school. Monday is St Davids day and we will pretend to go to Wales for the afternoon so that we can find out about this beautiful country, which is part of the Great Britain. Wednesday is World Maths Day, but actually as it is a world wide event it starts at 11.00am as it will be Wednesday then on the other side of the world! Thursday is our Mathletics Celebration, I am so proud of the children who will be getting their Gold Certificates then. They have worked really hard for them. I’m sure it will be a really inspiring event for us all, and will encourage the rest of the school to keep going for their Gold Awards.
Finally I am wondering what all the new Mr Men and Little Miss characters that you are making will be getting up to! We will be starting to plan their adventures and begin to sew our soft toys. So I hope you have all had a good weekend and are ready for a really fantastic week on our Learning Adventure together! Bye for now. Miss Teacher

Here is the Long Term planner for the next half term!
It looks really exciting doesn’t it! Our theme is ‘Good to be me!’ and we will be doing lots of amazing things.
I have put a list of some of the special dates on our website - so have a quick peep at http://www.super-school.co.uk/page_1202108.html
You will also notice that at the side of the page in the ‘Links’ I have added ‘World Maths Day’. You can log in to this by just using your Mathletics usernames and passwords. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the ‘Mathletics Clubs’ we ran on the Wednesday of half term…. lots of you worked so hard you were able to achieve a certificate - Congratulations! A really big cheer went out at the club as 2 Gold Certificates were achieved on that afternoon - so a special, big well done to those children!
Enjoy the last few days of the holidays.
See you all on Monday, Bye for now, Miss Teacher

Well what a week! We finished the week with Year 2 Hovingham Primary at number 1 in the table of the top UK classes! and no 5 in the league table for the world! Amazing! On Thursday, Ahsan got to no 1 in the pupil list and he has won the competition for the Class Mathlete of the week, and the School Mathlete of the week, with a score of over 16,000! I am so very proud of you all, and I know that all this fun on Mathletics is also making you super at Maths! Well done, everyone!
I can hardly believe that this is the last week of the half term….. we have our wonderful family collages to finish and the trip to China on Wednesday to celebrate Chinese New Year to look forward to! Well done everyone, keep Aiming High! :-) :-)

Well done everyone! I set the school the challenge of 100 certificates in a week, and already we have achieved it! 30 of the certificates were for children in my maths group and together we scored over 70,000 points! Fantastic! I am so proud of you all. At the end of Thursday we managed to get to 7th in the Top Schools in the UK list, and we finished the week on 14th - another magnificent accomplishment.
Not only have you wowed me with your Maths - but I am so impressed with the beautiful dream catchers you have made in you teams and now the stunning ones you have started on your own. I’m sure that when we hang them up, and with all of us being the best we can be and aiming high….. we really will make our dreams come true. ( Remind me this week - I must take some pictures of the dreamcatchers to put on the blog and website for everyone to see)
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend, don’t forget to do your learning log, learn your spellings and read! Bye for now, Miss Teacher

What is snow?
Snow is realy fun to play in. You can build a snow man and some snowballs and snowcasels with bukets. Snow is made from tiny cris tles. Snow is the funnest weather .
Where does snow go?
Snow melts when the sun shines beacause the sun is hot like the heater. Snow goes through the drain pipes when it melts.
