IT’S A MYSTERY

Posted by Aaliyah | Posted in 2011-12 | Posted on 10-02-2013

Some one was coming up the stairs. As I walked past all the old toys. I hid behind an old dolls house.I could hear weeping but I never knew where it was coming from. The steps were coming closer and closer sudenly the door flung open. Then they switched on the light  whoever it was stood very still. Then the light was switched of and the door shut with a loud bang. When the footsteps went away  I turned round to fing only a little girl crying next to the tall giraffe. When she saw me looking at her she turned away still crying. As I walked towards the window I turned round to take a look what ther girl was doing.I clamberd out of the window still wondering how I had got in to such a mess.

There are a lot of  Masjids  all around the world ( Masjid Means Mosquebut I am going to talk about a Masjid in India. This Masjid is in India in Delhi near another mosque in Philmistaan . This is called Jama Masjid and it is over 400 years old and is as big as 2 Thackery Museums. The person who teaches in the Mosque is called the Imaam and the first person who taught in the Mosque was Imaamai  Maulana Syed Abdullah Bukhari. People from different countries to see the Jama Masjid , Jama Masjid has 4 entrants and exits one is in the North another in the South another in the East and another in the West. In the Mosque they read Prayers , read Naats , teach how to read and write or because the Jama Masjid is massive most people put their own shops and sell things. They sell things such as Mosque hats , Player mats , Religious Calenders , Clothes and things just like that.

The Leak!

Posted by Shai-Equr | Posted in 2011-12 | Posted on 08-01-2013

Over 2 and a half weeks ago in year 3 where the SATS papers were there was a massive leak. The floor was flooded with water all over the place. Some SATS papers were so sodden that the could not dry and had to go into the bin. Mrs Spence found out and called the plumber to fix it. In the roof where the leak was there was an enormous hole which let water through. In the news it was talking about a flood and we had a little bit of a flood in year 3.

Our trip to the Grand Theatre

On Thursday the whole of Year 6 went to the Grand Theatre  to watch the production Oliver Twist. It is a book as well written by an author, Charles Dickens who was a very famous Victorian. The trip was very good and so was the show . I was very surprised about how  many lines the children that were playing the part of Oliver and the Artful Dodger had . It was great fun listening to the songs.

I really enjoyed Oliver Twist it was great. My favourite part was when they all came back at the end. It was so fun when everyone was booing at Bill Sykes because he killed Nancy his wife. I also liked the part when they shot the gun because it scared me at first  but the second time it didn’t  scare me.

Our Trip: Thackray Medical Museum

0

Posted by Maryam | Posted in 2011-12 | Posted on 16-11-2012

On Thursday Year 6 Monkey Puzzle went on a trip to Thackray Medical Museum, which first was a hospital. We learnt all aboiut the Victorians such as : Mrs Ingam, James Wilson, Martha’O’ Bryan and John Oddy. They were all Victorian people that died of diseases that back then doctors couldn’t cure. Like influenza, diptheria and cholera. Most of these diseases were caught from the dirty water, and the pen sewages which were absolutey disgusting. The butcher’s shop ws right next to the open sewage. We also learnt about Hannah Dson who was around 11 years old whn she died. She used to work in a factory with her mother. One day her leg was caught in a machine. She suffered from a reallly bad injury. They got her to a doctor as soon as possible, and some surgeons that were not trained didnt know how to help her so they just chopped off her leg. She did not get a special medicine that puts you to sleep so you don’t feel any pain, she saw her leg being chopped off. She did not die from that she died from the infction on her leg.

That is a little bit about the Victorians and how they died, unfortunately they did not get treated properly. Imagine if  you were born in Victorian  times and that hppened to you. I would hate that!!!

I loved going to the museum because it was a lot of fun and we saw lots of things and a lot of them where very very creepy too. My favourite part is when we saw all the houses and the part when we went to the grave yard to0. In the houses there was a lot of smoke from the fire place and that wasn’t very healthy for a baby. The windows where also broken to bits and that left them very cold all night long.

I enjoyed the museum because it was great when we where looking at the medicine’s. I think I found out lots about the medicine and how important they are. My favorite part was when we went to see how the human body worked and I found out lots of interesting facts like – did you know a baby had less bones then an average person has? Also when you have adult teeth  altogether you have 32.

Lets get back to the Victorian part of the trip , when we saw the peoples houses they were tiny we could hardly fit inside. The houses had a fireplace which had smoke covering the walls. In one of the houses there was a little baby in its cot and will suffer from lots of diseases because there was a washing line above it and the clothes will be wet. The fire was on and she was breathing the smoke in.

Hi everyone, I hope you all enjoyed a day off today. Your homework is to write a diary type entry for any two of the four days you will have off until school again on Monday morning. Write about the things you did today; who you saw and how you felt about your day. Obviously you won’t be able to write about Sunday until Sunday but you can write about the other days. Remember to include past tenses and some connectives. Who knows- you might even drop in a few adjectives and adverbs!

Felix Baumgartner, is an outstanding  Space diver. He travelled faster than sound. If I was him I would be so frightened and worried, especially when he started spinning and spinning round and round. That must have felt nauseating.

The art gallery and the city museum

I really enjoy seeing all the interesting pictures in the art gallery . It was interesting how the lady was killing the tiger  and the people from india were in harmony. There was a  baby and its mother who were getting crushed. In the city museum  I liked  the sculptures  and the games were interesting. The best part I liked about the trip was when we went to where the animals were. I liked when  there was an archaeologist dig part and it was great when we got to find  all the different objects.

THE TRIP WAS GREAT!
