Your character descriptions were fantastic and everyone really tried their best, and remembered Mr Perfect’s tips for character writing – can you spot all the adjectives and similes we have used?

Then we took our writing to the computer suite and used Purple Mash to publish and illustrate our Gruffalo descriptions! Can you spot all the exciting vocabulary we have used?

Happy Holidays, from Miss Teacher :-)

Posted by admin on Friday Apr 1, 2011 Under Creative, Games, Literacy, Numeracy

I’m so sorry that I wasn’t able to join you yesterday, and I won’t be in today either – but I know you are doing some great things with Miss Friday and all the great Year 2 team.

First, let me tell you about my day in London, meeting a lady called Rachael, who works for Mathletics in Australia! She wanted to know all about how we do our Maths and all the things we are learning, so she can design some new games to make the site even better for you. She loved your story about Mr Mathletics and Little Miss Perfect! She showed me the latest, exciting things that have happened on Mathletics – there are some new amazing workbooks, that we can print out and use – so even if you don’t have a computer you can still enjoy Mathletics. I know that Miss Friday is going to give you some booklets from the Mathletics workbooks for you to take home for the holidays! I was also shown the new changes on Spellodrome, and now I can set you special spelling lists – so if you have the internet at home, log on and see the changes in Spellodrome too! Well done too, to Chelsea for getting her Gold Certificate this week, and to the children who did the quiz I set up on Mathletics for you yesterday.

The next exciting thing - The Bug Club! I have set us up a 30 day trial of the Bug Club. It is like an online library – but even better! I have set all of you up with some books which I know you will enjoy… Miss Friday will give you your passwords and show you how it works.

So here are links to keep you busy over the holidays! Please also blog and tell me what you are up to – I will blog to you all over the holidays too!

Welcome to Year 2 & our Amazing Learning Adventure!

Posted by admin on Sunday Aug 29, 2010 Under Creative

Hello, everyone! Only a couple of days of the holidays left before we all go back to school! I hope that you and your families have all had a fun summer holiday. I have thought alot about the terrible news from Pakistan, I hope that your families who live their are all safe.

Welcome to the children who were in Year 1 – now you will be top of KS1 – and I know you will all be real stars! Infact ‘Reaching for the stars!’ is going to be a new motto for us, and we will be learning the song, and a special dance to it for ‘Wake up, Shake up!’

Here is the picture planner for this half term!

autumn-1-2010-planner-a4Doesn’t that look fantastic! WOW! We will be doing different stories about the Rainbow Fish, and also other storys about fish and the sea. Later in Literacy we will learn how to write instructions, and we will have made lots of special ‘fishy’ creations, that we will be able to write instructions for. We can even put the instructions on the blog to share with others. We will also learn how to run a cafe, and you will get to run the cafe during parents evening, while I am busy telling your parents all about how wonderfully hard you are all working. Our science will be related to Living things – especially things that live in water, and we will explore the different ways we can change water and other materials.

Most importantly the Rainbow Fish story will show us the importance of sharing, and working together as teams will be something that we work very hard on – we will learn that “Together Everyone Achieves More!”As well as the staff and children all helping each other – we will have a ‘Welcome Meeting’ for your families in the 1st week, and I will encourage them to come and join in with all the wonderful activities that we do, and to also support the After School Mathletics Clubs. Support from your families will really help to make a positive difference – and will get us all reaching for the stars! What will be your achievements this year? What do you dream of doing? Did you know, Walt Disney said, ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’, and he was right!

Looking forward to starting a very special year with you all on Wednesday, bye for now, Miss Teacher. :-)

Wordle by Miss Teacher.

Posted by admin on Sunday Jul 4, 2010 Under Creative, Literacy, Teachers resources

I learned so much from sharing ideas with the amazing people I met at the NQT conference on Friday. Many thanks to the person who shared the Wordle website. I pasted in the words from 3 of our football poems and look at the amazing Wordle it made! I know we will all be really inspired by this website – I think we could make some really fun, multi coloured wordles about Elmer! Wordle: World Cup
