Mr Bump by Little Miss Lovely

Posted by Little Miss Lovely on Tuesday Mar 31, 2009 Under Literacy

  Mr Bump

Now this story is about a very sad man called Mr Bump who always bumps into things and hurts himself. His house is very damaged and he never ever can do one thing carefully. One wonderful, sunny morning Mr Bump was in his bed asleep when suddenly his alarm clock woke him up. Then he got out of  bed and went to open his curtains then after he’d opened his curtains he opened his window. He looked out of the window and fell outside he got up and went inside for his breakfast. After he had his breakfast he thought “Maybe I’ll go to the beach.”  After he had  his breakfast he got ready and went off to the beach and had a nice long rest in the shining sun and he had thought about getting a job . Then he got up and went for a walk while he was walking he got a basket  stuck on his foot . When he finally got the basket of his foot he went home put his pyjamas on he went to bed and had a beautiful dream about his job . Then the next morning Mr Bump was so excited about his new job he skipped his breakfast and went to see if his  job suited him well and he was right it suited hi very well. His job was picking apples in a different sort of way. What he does is bangs into aple trees and apples come down and Mr Bump loved his new job.  THE END

Punctuation game

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 26, 2009 Under Literacy

This is a Keystage 2 game, but I know that lots of you will be able to do it! Just remember in this game they have done the speech marks with a single mark for the beginning and end, but we wrote it with 2 marks together at the beginning and end. ( “    ” )

Last weeks links will take you to the Keystage 1 bitesize games for Literacy and Numeracy.

Also in the links I have added another fun punctuation game… the site asks you to register, but you can click register later and play the game without having to register.

Little Miss Teacher’s son is home from hospital. :-)

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 26, 2009 Under Uncategorized

Little Miss Teacher couldn’t be with her extraordinarily clever class yesterday because she had to take her son to hospital for a knee operation. Her son, Mr Fit, hurt his leg when he was playing football. Mr Fit is home again now, but he has to stay in bed for a week to let his leg get better and then he will have to use crutches to help him walk for a few weeks. So Little Miss Teacher can’t be with all her friends in class again today, but she knows that all the Mr and Little Misses will be being the very best they can be and will all be ‘Aiming High!’  Little Miss Sparkle Dust phoned her last night to tell her about how hard everyone was working, and what beautiful sewing they were all doing for their lovely Easter cards.

Tomorrow  and Monday are training days, so Little Miss Teacher hopes that all the Mr and Little Misses have a happy long weekend at home…… and it would be really nice if some of them did some blogging.  Little Miss Teacher will be finding some new fun websites to link to the blog, but she won’t be able to write about all the wonderful things that have happened in class, because she has had to miss most of them! So hopefully a Mr or Little Miss will tell her what they have been busy doing! :-)

Miss Teacher feels very proud.

Posted by admin on Tuesday Mar 24, 2009 Under Uncategorized

When Miss Teacher had finished her course she rushed back to school to see Little Miss Sparkle Dust  and Little Miss Dancing Queen and to find out what had been happening in class. She knew that all the Mr.s and Little Misses were going to be busy writing some more fantastic stories…… and when she saw the amazing work that they had done, she really thought that Little Miss Sparkle Dust had been up to her magic tricks again! But Little Miss Sparkle Dust told her friend that the work had been done by the Mr.s and Little Misses, with out any help at all.  “Wow!” exclaimed Miss Teacher. ” I am so happy and I feel so proud of all the extraordinarily splendid work that has been done!” said Miss Teacher, grinning from ear to ear.

Little Miss Teacher’s splendid week!

Posted by admin on Saturday Mar 21, 2009 Under Literacy, Uncategorized

Little Miss Teacher has had an extraordinarily busy and amazing week at school this week!

In Literacy she has been so impressed by all the fantastic Mr and Little Miss stories that are being written. We have got some new video recorder machines called ‘Flips”, so next week I am hoping that we can film some of our finished stories using our theatres and the a we made. We will make the stories into books too, and then share them with the children in Year 1 and maybe invite our parents in to listen and watch our stories! That would be a wonderful way to finish a splendid half term! So keep on writing everyone!

In Numeracy we have been doing some really magical maths. We can choose 2 numbers now and tell you whether the answer to the sum of the numbers would be odd or even! We can do the same for subtraction…. and we can would out the answer for you by looking at the tens and units in the numbers.  We have been practising our numberbonds, all of us know bonds to 10, some our working on bonds to 20, some on multiples of 10 that make 100, and some of us are even working on the bonds of 2 digit numbers that make 100! Amazing!!   We are also working on multiplication as repeated addition and as arrays. But the highlight of the week, could be our 2 times dance to Riverdance! It was some good we even performed it in Together Time!

Tuesday was Kitty’s and Little Miss Teacher’s birthday! What fun we had, especially as we pretended to go to Ireland in the afternoon to celebrate St Patricks day! That’s when we learned how to do the Riverdance, and we found out about St Patrick and the shamrock.

Little Miss Teacher has been away at a conference about excellent Maths, but the class have all made lovely Mother Day cards with pictures of spring flowers and a wonderful explanation inside about why their mums are so special. I hope all the Mums are going to have a happy Mothers Day tomorrow!

On Monday we have a visit from the Yorkshire and Humber Grid for Learning…. so it would be really good if there were some more of your extraordinarily brilliant blogs for us to show them! So keep blogging this weekend!

Please note I have changed the settings on the blog so that your work comes to my email first, and then I will put in onto the blog for you. So your work might take a little longer to appear…. but it means that I know everything that is being published – so it keeps us extra safe.

Have a happy  weekend! Be the best  you can be! from Little Miss Teacher  :-)

Little Miss Teacher lives in Cleverland, in a house that is full of books, pens, papers and computers.  She works in the cleverest, most amazing school in Cleverland, called Hovingham Primary School. She teaches the cleverest class in the whole school, Year 2, and the children in her class are, of course, all very clever!

Her best friend is called Little Miss Sparkle Dust, and not only is she extraordinarily clever, but she is also able to do magic too! Just imagine that!

One day Little Miss Sparkle Dust noticed that Little Miss Teacher wasn’t looking very happy. “What’s wrong?” she asked her friend.

“I know all the children in the class are very clever, but I don’t know who really is trying to be the best that they can be, and really aiming high!” replied Little Miss Teacher.

“I think I have got one of my cleverest ideas! I will do an astonishingly amazing, magical spell so that all the children who are working hard will have sparkly, bright red noses!” answered Little Miss Sparkle Dust.

“Oh, what a fantastic, magical idea that is! Did you know that tomorrow is Red Nosed Day too! “happily laughed Little Miss Teacher.

“Abra, cadabra, wizzi woo, if you’re aiming high, there will be a red nose on you!” chanted Little Miss Sparkle Dust as she gently waved her magic wand.

The first child to arrive at school was Mr Helpful. Usually he came in the classroom with a big beaming smile, but today he looked a little worried.

“My nose has gone all red and sparkly!” he exclaimed.

Little Miss Magical explained to him that she had done one of her extraordinary magic tricks and that every child who is being the best they can be will have a red sparkly nose!

“That’s great,” replied Mr Helpful. ”I’m so proud of my red nose now; it lets everyone know I’m aiming high!”

Next arrived the twin sisters, Little Miss Love and Little Miss Lovely and their friends Little Miss Wonderful and Little Miss Clever. They all had sparkly red noses! Mr Helpful told them about the magic, and they all smiled and sat down and started busily to learn their spellings and practise their tables.

By the time Little Miss Teacher did the register everyone had arrived and can you guess what she saw when she looked at all the children sat on the carpet?

Yes! They all had red noses! Every single child had a bright red sparkling red nose!

The children looked at Little Miss Teacher and Little Miss Sparkle Dust who were smiling happily, and guess what they saw!

YES! They had bright red, sparkly noses too!

From that day on, once every two years all the children who are being the best that they be, appear at their schools dressed all in bright red or wearing red noses, and they all remember how lucky they are to go to school in Cleverland.

THE END.

Another amazing week! by Miss Teacher.

Posted by admin on Saturday Mar 14, 2009 Under Uncategorized

When Mr Super Star said to me that he loved coming to school and being in his class because it was like ‘Disneyland Paris’ it really made me smile. I think he is right!

Every one has really worked hard and we have made some incredible Mr Men and Little Miss toys, splendid pictures of our settings and brilliant theatres to perform our stories in. I will put some pictures of them on to the website later today.

In Literacy we have worded really hard and have planned and told our stories to our friends. It was lovely to watch lots of you acting out the stories for the class using your characters and our theatres. I can’t wait to see the fantastic writing that we will do next week when we make our stories into books to share with each other, our family and other classes.

In Numeracy we did lots of problem solving with the Mr Men and Little Misses and the we found out about what happens when you add odd and even numbers together. I hope you can remember our magic trick…. ask some one to choose any 2 numbers and tell them that you can tell them whether the total of the numbers will be odd or even!       ( 2 odd numbers or 2 even numbers make an even number, but an odd and an even make an odd number!)

Finally there was RED NOSE DAY! You all looked so amazing in your red clothes! Lots of you brought in money to buy buns, but we decided as a class to put the money together and buy a bun for everyone. We had lots of fun telling jokes and listening to funny stories. All are characters have magic sparkly red noses…. and of course next week we will have lots of special red nose stories!

I have put two new links into the links section for you. These games this week will help you practise number bonds and times tables.

Have a great weekend! Don’t forget to read, learn your spellings and do your log and of course….. keep on blogging!

It would be lovely if you could tell me the top 10 things that you enjoyed this week!   :-)
