A new e-safety feature is now available on Facebook.
From today young users of Facebook and their parents can add the ClickCEOP ‘app’ to their profile. Through this they can access advice and support from the CEOP Centre. They will be able to report instances of suspected grooming or inappropriate sexual behaviour directly from their profile to specially trained investigators. Users aged between 13-18 will see an advert on their profile page inviting them to add the app.
The link for the app is http://apps.facebook.com/clickceop/
There is also a new CEOP Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ClickCEOP) which will look at topic relating to online safety.
Every young person on Facebook needs the ClickCEOP app – this is why
If you work with teenagers, then you’ll know most of them will be using Facebook. You might even be using it yourself… if so, you will want to know about a new, free application in Facebook that is designed to keep young people safe while they are having fun networking online.
ClickCEOP is a new ‘app’ launched today (Monday 12 July) which links the young user directly from their Facebook profile to help, advice and reporting facilities of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre – the police agency set up to tackle child abuse.
By adding the app, young people and parents can get support from CEOP on a range of issues – viruses, hacking, dealing with bullying online and they can report someone who is acting inappropriately towards them online.
If you have a Facebook profile, app and bookmark the app. If children in your care are on Facebook, get them to search ‘ClickCEOP’ in Facebook and give them to chance to be one click away from help – if they should ever need it.

Your Justice Your world is a free interactive Citizenship and PSHE education resource for 7-16 year old students to give them a balanced overview of the criminal, civil and family justice system. Interactive citizenship activities are based on the lives of residents in a virtual town. Issues dealt with are of real concern to young people, including the consequences of breaking rules, bullying, discrimination, crime, and family break-up.
A voiceover, glossary and comprehensive teachers’ notes have been provided for use with mixed ability groups. Your Justice, Your World has been mapped closely to the latest PSHE and Citizenship education curricula for KS2, KS3 and KS4 and provides many links to Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL), Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda and PLTS.

Dear Teacher,
The Royal Albert Hall has an active and busy Learning & Participation department. In January this year, they released a brand new, free resource for secondary schools based around Functional Skills called Showtime.
Showtime explores the work of the Royal Albert Hall through English, Maths and ICT and demonstrates how the topics learned in the classroom are applied in the world of work, and specifically within the context of the Royal Albert Hall. It contains approximately 90 hours of teaching time, teachers’ notes, extension activities and worksheets. It can be used through an interactive whiteboard or networked around an IT suite so that students can work in small groups or individually.
Each activity or task is introduced by a member of the Hall’s staff and explores the different roles of people within the mounting of a production at the Hall.
Showtime is free to download and use and installation takes around 20-30 mins. It covers English, Maths & ICT with all the activities mapped to the new functional skills requirements.
We are also very interested in your feedback – both positive and negative, as we want to continue to be able to improve Showtime and add new functionality.
Showtime can be downloaded from:

These are:
1. change the page background colour
2. easy to use container properties option
3. copy page function
4. new languages
Please click here to read all about these!
Please also note that pages can now be copied within Fronter! This means that pages can be copied between rooms without images being lost. This is very easy but watch out for a helpsheet appearing in the Support Room.
Congratulations to staff and pupils from Sessay CE Primary and South Otterington CE Primary!
Katie Harrison and Jessica Brown accepted the joint award in the ‘Primary’ category of the Fronter Implementation Awards 2010 for their community cohesion and collaboration project work on Fronter. Both schools have been working on similar projects with pupils working collaboratively with link schools in Milton Keynes (Sessay) and North Yorkshire (South Otterington). Katie teaches a Y5/6 class at Sessay and Jess teaches a Y1/2 class at South Otterington.
This builds on the North Yorkshire success at the 2009 conference when Bolton-on-Swale CE Primary placed second in this same category. It is hoped that North Yorkshire schools will enter for the awards in 2011!

Well done to the North Yorkshire Seminar Leaders
Each year Fronter invites a range of school colleagues to present at the conference. This year three North Yorkshire teachers took part and did a great job of showing how Fronter is being used successfully in their schools:
Chris Sharples from Lady Lumley’s spoke about developing a VLE in a secondary school.
Katie Harrison and Jessica Brown gave a presentation about their project work (see above). Work by Lucy Ridyard and Foundation Stage pupils at Glusburn Primary School was also demonstrated as part of this presentation.

An exciting photographic competition has been launched to encourage schools to help create a giant mosaic image of North Yorkshire, using photographs taken by pupils.
‘The view from my window’ is being run by North Yorkshire schools’ ICT and is open to all schools. Pupils are asked to take a picture of a typical view from a window in North Yorkshire. The possibilities are endless but the only stipulation is that the picture must not contain any identifiable people.
All photographs submitted will be included in the mosaic, but each school is asked to choose a ‘best photograph’ from each of the five age groups for entry into the competition. These are:
◘ Early Years and Key Stage 1
◘ Key Stage 2
◘ Key Stage 3
◘ Key Stage 4
◘ Key Stage 5
Entries will be judged by a panel of three experts including a professional photographer. The overall winner in each age group will be awarded with a compact digital camera and their school will receive a digital SLR camera.
To enter the competition or for more information email jon.farley@northyorks.gov.uk
The competition closing date is 30th June 2010 and winners will be announced in July.
