Hi,

After a 12 hour flight to singapore, followed by a short 5 hour flight to Australia, I finally arrived in Perth (Western Australia). The weather is fantastic, the sun is shining, the waves are huge and the sunsets are amazing!

We fly in a few hours over night right across to Queensland (again a short 4 and a half hour trip) where we shall spend Christmas in the Whitsunday Islands.

Merry Christmas from downunder!

Dear Parents/Carers, Governors, children and friends,

We are planning a pass it on recipe book that will be sold at the November Fayre. We would really like you to bring your own recipes in from home - especially if it’s one that has been passed down through the generations or even if it’s a twist on a classic! We need the recipes to be in by the 21st November to make the book and you will be credited with the submission. Though they can be brought into school it would be even more helpful to us if they could be emailed to this dedicated address - recipes@brunswick.sheffield.sch.uk or reply as a comment to this post. This will save us a lot of time when putting the book together.

Thanks for your continued support, we appreciate it!

U11’s tournament

The Brunswick U11 football team had their first taste of competitive action on the 9th October, in a tournament at Woodhouse West. The first game we played ended 2-2 with goals coming from Alex and Joseph. It was a game we should have won as the opposition equalised in almost the last kick of the game with a very controversial penalty. In the second game we didn’t create as many chances and lost the game 0-1, though it was close. The final game was against our local rivals Woodhouse West, and despite the referee playing a lot of added time, we won the game 2-1 with goals coming from Alex and Jak. All the boys played well and enjoyed the games, with Cavan having a particularly successful debut in the centre of midfield. Our defence also looked solid with Aidan marshalling his back line of captain Theo and Ben. Jak and Alex created several chances and both scored, and Charlie performed well in a number of positions when he came on. We will take this promising start into the league and do our best to make a strong title challenge!

We can say one thing for sure though - Brunswick are now officially the number one team in Woodhouse!

Science Garden

I have just received news from Mr Delaney that the school has been donated £215 by the Sheffield Vulcan Rotary Club to help with our Science Garden. We, as a school, would like to thank the club very much and the money will be very useful in building the new dry river.

We have been lucky enough to welcome the Sheffield Schools Cross Country event back to our school for the first time in many years. What a way to start - there was over 500 children from across Sheffield competing in the different races across the morning. Brunswick had a brilliant turnout of children this year, with many new faces eager to show their talents.

Many of the children showed what great atheltes we have at this school by coming within the top third of the children competing.

We would like to make a speacial mention to all of the Y4 children who ran the race for the first time this year. We look forward to seeing you again at the next race on Saturday 11th October at Hallam Primary School.

I’m getting the hang of this blogging now. We’ve moved further east and are now staying eith friends in Orangeville, north of Toronto, To get the idea of what the Canadian scenery is like, mountains, plains, forests, lakes etc. think big, then think very big, then double it. To give you some idea, we had an ice cream on a huge beach and we weren’t even at the seaside. We were by the side of a lake, Lake Huron one of the great lakes. On the other side the prices of petrol, cars and houses are about half those in Sheffield!!  Hope you are all having great holidays. Stay save. Mr. Delaney

A huge well done to the athletics team who trained at lunchtimes and competed at the Woodburn Road Athletics stadium. It was a rather wet evening but team spirit was high and our children did really really well! The Y5 and Y6 team competed in many events such as the long jump, throwing, sprinting, long distance, relay and a rather funny event to watch…the walk! Some of our children have got through to the Sheffield finals, to be held on the 3rd of July and we wish these children well and hope they have another great evening.

Well true to my word here are some pictures of my new little babies, they hatched out over the half term break. Eight eggs and all of them hatched. This clutch of babies actually include some pretty rare colours.

Another beautiful beach that I have spent a few hours on. This is on the island of Koh Phi Phi Don in Southern Thailand and is one of the islands that was hit by the Tsunami of December 2004. The people and lots of volunteers have helped rebuild the hotels and shops so that the island can return to normal. The beaches are really gorgeous and this view is taken from my favourite one. This is my last main stop on my journey around the world. It has been an amazing experience for me and I hope that you have enjoyed seeing some of our world through my eyes.
